Parishioners interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister must be practicing Catholics who have been baptized, confirmed, and receive Communion. Married persons must be in a valid sacramental marriage. Interested persons must complete a 3-hour general training session provided by the diocese. These sessions are offered twice a year. Upon completion of the diocesan training there is a required 3-hour training period scheduled at St. Mary’s to learn our parish procedures.

WELCOME!
| “The liturgy is the central event of our life as a church. It is through gathering for prayer and praise that we celebrate who we are as God’s people. When we come together for liturgy, we encounter God – in one another, in the sacramental actions, and in the proclamation of the word of God. |
|
Those who proclaim God’s word in the liturgy are ministers. When you answer the call to be a minister of the word, you enter a deeper relationship with God revealed in sacred scripture. You take upon yourself the awesome duty and privilege of bringing the printed word to life. Your proclamation enabled God’s word to achieve the purpose for which it was sent. In short, you become a prophet, one who speaks for God. John the Baptist is your model, preparing the way of the Lord…”
The above words were taken from the “Workbook for lectors and gospel readers” introduction. And how true they are. What an awesome privilege it is to participate in the lector ministry. St. Mary’s is blessed with more than 70 lectors. Our parish provides us with the tools and the training needed to perform our ministry in a prepared, insightful manner. We utilize two lectors at each mass. Lector A reads the announcements before Mass and proclaims Reading II. Lector B processes in with the priest carrying the “Book of the Gospels”, proclaims Reading I, and reads the Petitions. Each lector is generally scheduled for one Mass each month.
Please prayerfully consider the Lector Ministry. All Parishioners are invited and encouraged to participate. If you are interested, please contact the Lector Coordinator indicated above or contact the parish office.
