Music Ministry

The exquisite voices and energy-charged music at each LIFE TEEN Mass (Sundays at 5:30 p.m.) are provided by the LIFE TEEN Music Ministry, led by Jeff Botos, LIFE TEEN Music Director, jjbotos@hotmail.com.

2007-2008 Music Ministry Policy

• St. Mary LIFE TEEN Music Ministry is a ministry of St. Mary Church.
• This ministry serves LIFE TEEN first and foremost.
• Commitment to any events outside of the St. Mary LIFE TEEN program is at the discretion of LIFE TEEN Staff and St. Mary Music Ministry.
• Minimum one-year commitment (renew yearly).
• Events include:  weekly Sunday LIFE TEEN Mass, weekly LIFE TEEN Music Ministry practice, Confirmation, Fall/Spring LIFE TEEN Retreats, monthly XLT, Mass in the Grass (and any additional St. Mary LIFE TEEN events).

REQUIREMENTS:

• Musical ability
• A commitment to the St. Mary Music Ministry and St. Mary LIFE TEEN ministry
• A desire to serve the teens
• Is Roman Catholic, or is familiar with the Catholic tradition
• A commitment to constant spiritual development

TO BECOME A MEMBER IN THE LIFE TEEN MUSIC MINISTRY:

• There must be a need to fill (i.e. “vacant spot” in the ministry)

• Any vacancies in the Music Ministry will be:
1. First - offered to adults (i.e. 18 and up/graduates) who are willing and able to make at least a one-year commitment to this ministry.  All adults in the Music Ministry are subject to the obligations of the Diocese of Cleveland Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse, which requires one-time attendance at a Virtus workshop, and yearly fingerprinting and background checks.
2. Second – offered to teens (Juniors/Seniors ONLY

All teens who join the Music Ministry must take part in all LIFE TEEN events, which include LIFE Nights and the Fall/Spring Retreats.

3. Potential members will meet with Jeff Botos for:

Interview  (anyone under 18 MUST have parent or parents present at the interview, as we will talk about the commitment needed in the ministry).
